Choosing rest over 'just one more game'

The situation

I was feeling really tired and my body needed rest, but my mind was awake and a bit anxious about waking up on time for an early shower. On top of that, I really wanted to play 'just one more game' online, which felt like a strong pull competing with the need to sleep.

What helped

Even though I had my alarms set and knew I was technically ready to wake up, my mind was still on guard. The coach helped me see that the anxiety about waking up was lingering. We also talked through the honest trade-off of playing a game versus getting rest. I realized that even though I'm usually pretty good at stopping myself after one game, I didn't want to risk losing precious rest time or getting revved up mentally, especially when my body was signaling for a pause.

What changed

I chose not to play the game and prioritized getting the rest my body needed. I stopped myself from taking that risk, understanding that proper rest would benefit me more in the long run than a potential game win.
